Mr. Seamus Brennan TD RIP

May I be the first to pay tribute to former Government minister, Mr. Seamus Brennan TD, who died Wednesday morning. As we know that he got our roads and public transport in the early 1990's and 2000's up to date to be one of best in the Europe. As I never met him in person I say that he was one of the nice TD's in Ireland to get us up to date be one of best in Europe today.

Dublin Street Guide - 7th Edition

The seventh edition of the OS street map book is out. This now includes some of the towns from the Leinster maps book. Basically from what I have seen, Dublin County is covered.

We can have fun here pointing out the mistakes in this useful book.

In comparison, BVG the Berlin Transport company, produce a similar atlas for €10.90. This book is a mine of information and aside from accurate maps showing all routes (trains, buses, trams etc.) basic timetables, interchange...

Up until last Monday, I had two RDIF (radio frequency sensitive cards used for ID and access purposes) cards in my wallet. The first is the work ID card - important, gets me into and out of the building, without it I'd have a job paying the bills. The second is my Luas smart card. I'm an occasional user of the Luas (it's right by my work, so handy to pop into town, etc) but i realise the money i can save on those occasional journeys when using it.

In the attic is a Matchbox Scaelectrix set from the late 70's / very early 80's that belonged to my uncle. The full set is there, only the cars are broken. All the little pieces are there for anyone with a keen eye to detail on how to fix them. It was going to be thrown out, but I've successfully pleaded with the parents to give me til the weekend to give it to a good home - im guessing someone may already have one that they may wish to add to - perhaps it's even a collecters...

Thought I would start a discussion about the livery style and colours that maybe the future 'Transport for Dublin' should use on all buses, trains and trams in the Dublin area.
For my own thinking, the two tone blue as found on Dublin Bus, or a livery designed by Best Impressions. Needs to be simple but effective, easy to maintain and looks well on any road or rail vehicle, reflects the City of Dublin. Having said all that why can't the current Dublin Bus livery not be...

2 Packs ( 5) Dublin Bus ticket rolls for the old wayfarer machine, ( blue print on rolls).
3 Old Type Modules for the wayfarer machine.
1 Coin Dispenser as used prior to Autofare, (in perfect working order).

These items are available to anyone, who has or is restoring a Dublin Bus vehicle, and who needs the items to include on the vehicle.

guys a leading transport artist in the uk has told me he is interested in doing a cie montage basicly he is looking for ideas on what to include
do we go for bus only rail only or everything that cie ventured into ie bus truck rail boats horses tram
i think if he succeeds in the first he might be convinced to do more irish stuff up to now he has done uk stuff and i have seen some of his work which is excellent

I know we have a wide member base from north and south here.

Been asked by friends to do a run to Belfast international airport (do anything for Ouzo!!)

Where the A1 joins the M1 i seem to have two choices LEFT and A26 vis Nutts corner OR,

M1 to Belfast, M2 to Templepatrick, A57 to the Airport.

Any hints and tips, many thanks.

Parking at Southside DART

Does anyone know what parking position would be at Greystones if they travelling after morning peak.

While messing around with the Translink journey planner, i inputted last bus info for a journey from Derry/Londonderry to Belfast, the result was 2045 033 service to Dublin arr 0045 and change to 001 service at 0100 to Belfast arr 0335. Total time almost 7 hours!!!, but what i would like to know is what fare would be charged for this journey, surely the normal Derry/Belfast direct fare would apply. I used to use these "fare loopholes" on British Rail services to visit a number of...
