Bus Crash in London this Morning.

One person was killed this morning and at least eighteen others injured, when a double decker bus crashed in to a tree in central London this morning.
It happened on Tower Bridge Road, near the junction with Tanner Street as the bus operated on the 188 route.

My sympathies to all concerned in this incident.

Thamesdown Transport, the last major operator of the Daimler Fleetline have now retired them after a special running day where most of the survivors operated in service. The company and its predecessor Swindon Corporation had operated Fleetlines since 1968, in later years home grown examples were bolstered by secondhand purchases from Bournemouth. London bus fare dodging 'doubles'

Fare evasion on London's buses has nearly doubled in the last four years, according to the Liberal Democrats.

A freedom of information request shows in 2003 the evasion rate was 2.2% of the total number of journeys compared to 3.9% in 2007.

The party says fare evasion on bendy buses cost £6.4m last year. The total cost it claims is £52.3m.

But Transport for London (TfL) disputed the figures saying...

A bus company's efforts to cut global warming emissions have led to services being disrupted by cold weather.

First Eastern Counties Buses, which runs services in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, said bio-diesel had turned waxy in sub-zero temperatures.
