Finglas Routes 1980s

As a Finglas resident I have witnessed a lot of changes to its routes. I would not rate the present situation. In my opinion the situation in the 1980s was far the best. There was consistency with the routes. I felt that there was a route to cover every part in Finglas.

Route 34-Covered Finglas East, Finglas village, North Road and Mc Kelvey Avenue.
Route 35- Covered Finglas village, Jamestown Road and Mc Kee Road, old Finglas.
Route 40- Covered Finglas village, Mellows...

Old 47s

Does anyone know the old 47s finnish date. There still is a shelter bus stop on Leinster Road were the 47s went.

Route 14/a

Route 37

I have a hazy recollection of seeing route 37 terminate at the Halfway House on the Navan Road. I was young at the time and recall seeing a Van Hool parked there. It is hard to imagine it know with all the changes. Does anyone know when route 37 stopped terminating at the Halfway House.

Route 39

Hi all. In the early nineties, route 39's timetable says it terminates at Coolmine. I have the timetable from then. I know the 39 went via Castleknock before it's Cityswift days but I would like to know the way it went after the Clonsilla Road. Thanks guys.

I remember route 34a went up mellows road in finglas, I've seen a picture of the 34a in dame street, so i was wondering what was the routing before it changed to middle abbey st. Was it something to do with the quay reversals.

Hi all. Does anybody know the date that route 28 stopped operating, plus does anyone have any information or memories they can share about this former route. I got it a few times. It was sad to see it go.

Summerhill questions

I'm trying to recall some aspects of Summerhill fleet around the late 60s/early 70s. Hard data is difficult to come by and I don't have sufficient recall of all the facts.

Firstly,
In the 1950s/1960s, the 40 was officially allocated to Summerhill but was in fact outbased at Broadstone due to shortage of space in Summerhill. In the mid 1960s, R581 - 591 617 - 620 were in Broadstone for these routes. As I understand it, Summerhill was responsible for maintenance, but...

i remember getting on this route to rialto. i remember getting on it in cathal brugha st. i was young at the time and my mind is bit hazy so i don't know if it went the same way as route 19/a to get to rialto. i knew the 20 went to bulfin rd and the 19s were extended there after the cancellation of route 20. a while back i found out the 20 came from beaumont, correct me if i'm wrong. was route 20 a summerhill route. i have fond memories of this route. i wonder has any one got some...

can any one give me information on route 35. i was too young to understand its route and timetable. if anyone out there can give me some route and timetable information on it, it would be much appreciated. i would love to know the timetables for the 40 group in the mid 80s.

41A/71

Did the 41A and 71 serve Walsh Road at the same time or did they renumber 41A to 71 sometime in the 1930's, or was the 71 an independent absorbed in 1934?

Routes that have never changed

Apart from the more recently introduced routes, are there any long-servicing ones that have never actually changed route since their inrtoduction? I know that new roads, developments, etc have caused services to be rerouted. But, which ones have actually done the exact same route for years? I'm not sure if this has been discussed already.

13/13A & 19A via Wadelai Park? Early 1980s.

For a period around the early 80s (not sure of exact date), can anyone confirm that the 19A for a short period ran as normal along the Ballymun Rd then left St Pappins Rd, right into Delville Rd and left to Glasnevin Ave.

Because :

When the 13A was introduced to Ballymun Roundabout (around 1976/77?) it ran direct along Ballymun Road (not serving Wadelai Park), the 13 terminated at Wadelai Park, is this correct?

Some 1987/88 Northside Route Ammendments

Two route mergers occurred in Clontarf on Sunday March 6^th 1988. The first was the merger of the 42A/B, the second was that of the 53/A. There are two questions which I have in relation to this, just wondering if anyone has any memories/records of the time.

When the details of the route mergers were published the 42B's route was described in a advertisement from Dublin...

65C

Back when I was young and no spectacular interest in buses..there was introduced the 65C around the same time as the Tallaght QBC. (Which also coincided to my much astonishment the first AV on the 56A - AV211)
