Hi all, does anybody know where MG74 (MGS74) went to after being removed from School Duties in Navan in approx 2000 or 2001? Was she scrapped or was she bought by somebody? If so do u know where she is at the minute? REG NO. 74 IK

I recieved this photo from a member of staff in maintanance recently, he was looking for information is it a T or a P? it's dated 8th august 1962.

The posting I did about May 1968, with the reference to the R280s, reminded me of this photo, which I got from the late Eamon McArthur. The only bus identifiable in it is R286, which I noted as visiting Clontarf as a driving school bus in May 1968. In this photo, taken in the early 1950s, it is on route 2, which along with route 3 would have been its normal home from 1950 to 1956 when it moved to Clontarf.

The photo is spectacular for the number of buses in O'Connell St. at the...

D360 as promotional bus

D360 was a promotional bus for Panasonic for a short while. I can't exactly remember when, even though I was responsible for the branding etc when they were my client. I would think it was in the summer of 1989 though.

RA126 (the REAL RA126 that is)

I came across this photo in my files - I think it appeared in the Evening Press c. April or May 1978 . The bus had been withdrawn in February 1977 but chronic vehicle shortages meant it was returned to service during the summer of that year.

See separate post with some history of these buses. R799 (which was the first of the R800 style bodies and registration series), entered service on 3rd April 1958. I saw it on route 12 on Easter Sunday, three days later.

R803 was new to Summerhill, but spent most of its life in Conyngham Road. In January 1965, it was one of the first Rs to get the three track...

D1 in its last weeks of service (1982)

I've just put up a feature on www.allaboutbuses.com looking at my visits to Finglas over the past number of years.

It includes one of my favourite photos, showing D1 in its last weeks of service in summer 1982.

We are used to seeing all those photos of a sleek and shiny D1 being demonstrated to the press, or in its first days on the road in 1966, but how many remember it in...

Brewery Rd. 1980 (with D396)

Here's another photo where the location has changed beyond all recognition.

In 1980, Brewery Road was still rural, with trees and fields seperating it from Sandyford Industrial Estate, which was much smaller than it is now.

Another good shot I came across some time back was this one. Don't know when it was taken or who took it. A photo shop in Cork was selling it in a frame. The single decker in the backround has a paper sticker on the window displaying Spangil Hill.

Some GNR Regents

Here are some other GNR Regents to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the last withdrawal from Dublin service (AR302 on 25th September 1967).

AR294 was a typical Clontarf Regent with open platform, used mainly on route 29, but also route 31 and some school/peak extras. It dates from 1948 and was w/d in March 1967. Photo was taken in early 1960s. Bus had been...

OK obviously this is some special event... judging by the cars it's around the same time as the others. would it possibly have something to do with the popes visit? anyway there's 2 lovely little buses in the picture not too sure what they are but im sure somebody will.
