Tall Ships

Interesting to see 2302 and 2305, both branded "Ulsterbus Foyle" in use on normal Belfast Metro services during the Tall Ships weekend. A number of other Ulsterbus vehicles were also helping out on Metro services

Ulsterbus VP type 1651(BCZ 1651), painted red and white not the normal blue and white, i noticed in Dublin at O' Connell Bridge, heading out of the city, at 12 midday or 12.10pm or thereabouts on Monday {24th Aug}, (day before yesterday as its now early on Wed morning), forgot to add it in. Private was up on its destination blind. Looked quite good but i prefer the blue and white livery on the normal Ulsterbus coaches.

Ulsterbus VP sightings

Yesterday (Wed. 5th Aug) i spotted tour bus 1657 in Derry Ulsterbus station at about 14.30.

Today (Thurs. 6th Aug) i spotted both 1644 and 690/6690, a few miles outside outside Ballybofey Co. Donegal (on the Donegal town side) at about 15.50 as they were both heading towards Letterkenny/Derry. I was very surprised to see 1644 out there, and the bus that was in front of it was a tour type VP number 690 or 6690, as the end bit of the reg of it said 6690.

2016 - Route 274 Derry - Dublin
1768 - Route 200 Belfast - Dublin
2014 - What looked like to be on route 218, but was probably 212?
1696 and 1741 - Route 273 Derry - Belfast via Omagh
1644 - Route 102 (i think) 11.15am from Derry to Strabane via Donemana and...

Ulsterbus 1419

This is now with Swilly Coaches. Reg is *** 4419 (its not really ***, i just can't remember what letters were there before the reg). Its like a Leyland i think it is, i can picture it clearly in my head but i just can't say for sure what make it is, maybe a Leyland Tiger but i'm not sure. Well anyway Swilly have her now.

Ulsterbus Volvo Eclipse in Dublin City

I noticed in O' Connell Street this afternoon at 14.55, heading from The Quays direction (O Connell Bridge side) heading towards Parnell Square/Broadstone direction, a city service bus which does the city service in Derry,(i presume Derry?) it was bus number 302, and reg. was OEZ 7302. Volvo Eclipse B7R (i think). I was so surprised to see it there, especially when the destination display read 274 Dublin! Must've been very short of a bus in Pennyburn (Derry) for the Dublin run? I...

Seen Volvo Plaxton 1649 in Enniskillen last Wednesday and also the week before that. I'm up that way tomorrow again so i might see it tomorrow evening if its still there. Has this bus moved to Enniskillen now, and if so, in place/in a swap for what? I remember seeing this bus fairly often in Belfast going to I think Downpatrick but not sure, i think it was route 251 or something similar. I think it was a place beginning with the letter 'D' but Downpatrick is just sticking in my...

As I was getting the 15:42 train home today I saw an Ulsterbus ALX 400 parked outside Busaras, where the 101s normally go from. Don't know which one but it seemed to have branding/ads on the windows for an Airport service, or some kind of ticket offer.

Ex Ulsterbus Tiger Leylands

The Ulsterbus Tiger Leylands which look the exact same as Bus Eireann's TE class buses from 1988/1989 (which are all on schools and some have already been scrapped), Ex Ulsterbuses fleet numbers 518 and 519 are now with Swilly Coaches. I seen 518 looking extremely well, wheels polished aswell, looking absolutely smashing, lying in Derry's Ulsterbus station at 12 noon today. Then a bit later at about 12.35 i seen number 519 in the Bus Eireann yard in Letterkenny. Also looks good but...

Enniskillen area timetable changes

New Ulsterbus timetables come into effect on Tuesday 5th June though not all routes see a new timetable. Here I will detail the changes to Enniskillen area stage-carriage (non-Goldline) routes:
58 Enniskillen-Derrylin-Belturbet.
* 1310 Enniskillen to Belturbet M-F advanced to 1300 and operates 10 mins earlier throughout returning from Belturbet at 1400 (previously 1410)
* 0850 Saturdays Enniskillen to Belturbet withdrawn.
* 0945 Saturdays Belturbet to Enniskillen retimed...

Had the pleasure of travelling on this lovely machine 1645 on the 15.30 from Derry to Belfast earlier this afternoon. Could've got the 14.30 which was 1644, and i seen 1645 parked there with 212 Londonderry on her scroll so i thought she might be on the next service at 15.00 so i hung about but Ayat Decker 2007 was on that 15.00 service. Luckily for me 1645 did the 15.30. Fantastic little bus. Lovely and comfortable. I would pick one of these VP types for the Derry to Belfast route any...

I spotted an Ulsterbus Goldliner Volvo B12B Sunsundegui (like BEs' VGs) on George's Street just after 11:00 this morning displaying route 240. I didn't get the reg as I was too bust looking out for a fleet no., which seemed to be non-existant.

Seen 1663 in Busaras last night (Tues. 31/03/09) at about 22.30 which i presume was on the 23.00 to Derry route 274. 1738 on that one tonight.

Ulsterbus Redundancies

Does anyone know if this is going to be the beginnings of a translink-wide series of cutbacks, or is Derry on its own ?
Is it drivers, support staff or a mixture that will be affected ?

Spotted this bus in Derry at 14.15 this afternoon with '212 Maiden City Flyer' on the scroll. Looks in great nick. Also 2017 on the 234 to Coleraine at about 15.35 or 15.40.
