Your not the only one d8Boy I got caught out too a few weeks back. Anyone know why the change? Most other timetable that I can think of read down first. I'm guessing if this caught out a couple of people here it probably is catching people out in the general public too??

New carousels put on bus stops on Ballyfermot road still showing route 18 as operating to Donnybrook via Belfield.

This is only being rolled out, and new maps of various locations showing all the bus stops in the area using the new references will be developed.

And yes, the timetable format has now changed to across rather than down on these displays.

Am I the only one to get caught out by the way the schedules are displayed on the panels on the new O'Connell St stops? As long as I can remember, Dublin Bus and CIE Dublin City Services have indicated departure times in a "newspaper column" format, i.e. down and across:

On a wet Saturday afternoon recently I was looking at the timetable for the 11 southbound and was alarmed to find that buses were to leave Wadelei at 14:45, 15:30...

Some stops actually have black carousels on blue poles at the moment.

at lest the newstops arebright and highly visable at night now just to increase the number of shelters

Yes, some of these are on blue stops.

All the bus stops will eventually be painted yellow, with a black carousel and the top (either 'Bus' or 'Bus' and a listing) will be in black also.

These are still on the blue stops, right? Have they changed their minds about the yellow bus stops? If not, seems pointless putting them on bus stops that are going to be changed.

Apologies if it has been posted already, but new stickers have been placed on some bus stops along the South Circular Road, on the larger bus stop heads. The suffix of the routes are now lower case (19a). One interesting point is the separation of 16A from the list of bus routes. This is listed below the other routes, with a small green airport/airplane symbol next to it.

They are on Gardiner street since last week too. Slightly different font as well.

All new bus stops on O'Connell St. should now have timetables, the last few where put up this evening.

The set down stop at Easons now includes 46B/C/D/E also.

Dublin Bus really do amaze me at times. They have now replaced the majority of stops on O'Connell Street with the new style ones.

However, these new style stops have two of their faces blank, with the middle one facing the pavement saying sorry, we do not have the timtables ready yet so use our website or call us to find out when your next bus is.

Question - Why did they replace the old ones with the new ones if they were not putting timetables up? Surely it is asking for...

Thats what I thought, but twice in the past two months, I've seen the 1 arrive into the city centre, displaying '1 Parnell Square', stop on O'Connell St., go out of service for about 5 minutes and then become a 3.

The question now is, what does the running board say, operate a 1 to PSQ and then a 3, or does it say operate from Poolbeg to Larkhill as a 3?

Maybe this listing of '1' is for all the cross city routes with operate as a 1 when short working :)

But Gavin, all northbound services ex-Poolbeg operate to Larkhill do they not?

Hence they operate as route 3 - despite the timetable not indicating that to anyone! It shows route 1 to city centre and route 3 services starting in the city centre.

There is no route 1 northbound!

More of the new stops gone up today.

The set down stop northbound after Henry St., the 10/A northbound, the 19/A, 38/A/B/C, 747 stop southbound, the 14/A, 16/A, 48A stop southbound, the 1, 2, 3, 11/A/B, 121, 122 & 123 stop southbound have all been changed.

The set down stop after Henry St., has no timetable panel like the earlier set down stop at Easons. It is listing 'Set' 'Down' 'Only' 'For' on the top 4 tiles, and '1', '2', 7/a/b/d', '8' on the next 4 tiles. The next...

The further two stops differ a little.

The blue location strap line on these two reads 'O'Connell St. Lower / Sr. Ui Conaill Uachtarach'.

The set down stop, however, is now listing 'Set' 'Down' 'Only' 'For' on the top 4 tiles, and '10/a' '46a' '145' on the lower 4 tiles. While its nice and clear that its a set down stop only, why have the 46b/c/d/e been dropped, they still set down here.

On the 38/A/B/C & 123 stop, there is only one row of 4 tile broken down as...

The new style Dublin Bus bus stops have started to appear, with the first two now installed on O'Connell St.

They are located at the 4, 13/A, 19/A stop northbound and the 10/A, 46A/B/C/D/E, 58C, 58X, 116, 145, 746 stop southbound.

They feature frequency based timetables and spider maps for the routes.
