I've decided to pull the post that was previously here, although I stand by all I had said, I decided that it was too negative for our board and the 'concerns' expressed in that post would be better aired at the correct agencys and by union involment. Posts: 517 11/06/2008 14:23:45	Well I have heard many a senior bus driver over here say that all the fun has gone out of the job, and they are right but if they were to read all of this they would have to agree that things are not so bad here at all!! These are disgraceful working conditions that you would expect to see in some military controlled state. Obviously the unions have no power left or any bite because if this happened here there wouldn't be a bus left on the street and rightly so. Im surprised there are any bus drivers left in the city if this is what goes on. Certain elements would love to have Dublin modelled on this example if they had their way. Where I work (not on the buses) customers are treated politely and helpfully but they have to behave themselves as well, rudeness or attemps to bully staff will result in their removal from the building.

Posts: 173 20/06/2008 00:37:11 Archivist	From what I read in an article in an English newspaper recently (bearing in mind the accuracy or lack thereof of newspaper articles), bus drivers' pay seems to be very low in the UK also, are there any comparisons between the UK and here in this regard?

Posts: 352 08/07/2008 18:32:00 Full Member	Generally, London drivers regardless of operating company are much better paid than those outside the Metropolitan London area, even those on the fringes of London in Essex, Surrey, Berkshire, Bucks & Herts take a steep drop in wages compared to their London counterparts. Just check other bus company websites located outside London to see the difference in pay. London companies probably just about match DB & BE on wages, but the DB + BE perks are much better, such as medical services and travel concessions. Anthony.
