Speaking only for the stop at Gandon House, it is good to see this as an official compulsory stop. I don't believe ithat buses should have to always stop at these stops, but it might make drivers actually look at the stop and drive by it on the nearside. Gandon House is notorious for having anywhere up to 10 buses queing to get at it at any time. Some drivers take this as an opportunity to take over all the other buses and not bother stopping. As someone who uses this stop regulary this is a major problem and in any 20minute period during the evening peak, anywhere up to 5 buses will just skip the stop to the anger of their waiting passengers. Old people are exceptionally vunerable to this type of behaviour. Sometimes a bus will load passengers 3-4 bus lengths (in a queue) behind the stop. Some people might not be on their toes enough to see this, old people might not be able to make it down that far before the bus pulls away. Clock-face timetables have really affected this stop over the years. Something I remember discussing on this forum years ago, and something DB have gone for, has lead to anywhere up to 10buses leaving their terminii at the same time heading for this stop.

Also something that really annoys me is on services into town. 27s generally travel in twos on the Malahide Road, one full the other empty (hence it caught up). The full one pulls in, their could be 10-20 people at the stop and the other will just over-take it without any regard to the signalling of waiting passengers. This is a major issue for Dublin Bus, it was something I remember reading in the columns of Buses magazine a few years to the shock of the writers there that such a compulsory stop system was not in place here.

I agree with these stops to a point. However as for the Dept of Transport, don't get me started.
