North Weald London Rally 6th July 2008 | #22 | ||

I was wondering if any of the modellers are going to North Weald Bus Rally , indeed non modellers also are very welcome there... A good Rally with most of the
Southeast London area represented there and Creativemaster, Britbus, EFE and Corgi will all be there.Loads of model stalls and books. pictures etc.
Plenty of REAL bus parts for sale also... In passing I rallied R 788 (OIK 984) there on 16th June 1988 on the same day as the Dublin Millenium Rally with Routemaster RML 903 in Dublin for the occasion and guess what ?.............................................THAT WAS TWENTY YEARS AGO. doesn't time fly chaps Final details going to EFE for start R 427 in Green on route 23 DRIMNAGH - BALLYBOUGH fingers crossed as Frank Joyce is not the quickest !! Don, you were enquiring after some information on a Route 78 destination. Here's a portion of a newspaper clipping from January 1953 of R393 operating the
new Ballyfermot service.
The full text reads: GRATTAN BRIDGE KINGSBRIDGE INCHICORE ROAD SARSFIELD ROAD BALLYFERMOT UPPER Hope this helps, regards, Barry Millar |

With regards the wedding bus as a model, this is not as straight forward as you might think. There is a bride who modelled for Dublin bus for the advert and we
are unsure how to approach the HR / Head Office to enquire about clearance. To my knowledge Stagecoach have used students to promote bus tickets and used these
as mega rears and adverts and I was told that once the advert is on a Stagecoach bus it becomes their property and can be reproduced in a scaled model version
without any problems but the wedding bus in Dublin Bus colours would officially be the first time an advert has been used on a modern Irish model. Let us hope
the same rules apply to Dublin bus as Stagecoach when scaling down to a model. THe old advert that appeared on RV, RH, and KD wedding buses are proving very
difficult to get hold of. HR do not have records of them even tho they are DB adverts! I will be pursuing other people for the ads. The RV / RH wedding advert
would be a proposal for Britbus

Thanks for those lovely shots of the old destination boxes showing just how informative they were and how far backwards we have gone in terms of destination
displays today.

Wyth & Dublinbus
Thanks all for the information on the 22/23 Drimnagh routes info. I have sent a selection to Frank at EFE and hopefully he will get back to me BEFOREHAND, that said, he is not renowned for doing that and tends to produce with ballsups,,,eg. the EFE Capetown top from deck windows, vents, missing despite four warnings... Creative Master and Danny Chan ALWAYS (nearly) gets it right, Brit/Irbus also do ok but regrettably the last bus was not up to standards ... This time we are posting to make sure it is at least 95% right, we won't please all !!! Martin posted kindly for me the pictures of a PROTOTYPE model With Faults and we know, the colour is a bit reddish on the orange stripe, the 'Dublin Bus' logo too feint, DB castles slanted !,the blind is going to have a "Y" instead of a V..we thought that this would be a nice Dub Bus idiocyncrachy but already some are complaining... As pictured one could not see the tail on the Y and we thought leave it as the blind is driver incorrectly set... but no we will bow to your wishes and it will be as correct display... anymore detail from the fans would be appreciated...we do our best Don E.Brook |

Don E Brook wrote: No, no, you have taken me up incorrectly. I was just responding to Martin's observation that the scroll could be set incorrectly not criticising a pre production version of the model, when you had already stated that the error was to be corrected. |
