I do a few hours at this show and it's one of the best days out you can spend. This year, it's just €10/€8 in and €20 for families. And don't worry
about the 11Am start as the gates are open till just before 6PM.

I'm sure the public car park is in the grounds of Terenure College itself, or park at the side of Bushy Park.

Was anyone from here at this show? How did it turn out? I'm sure it was a good day?

Apologies VC, I'm only returning to this thread now. It was €10 general admission and €8 for OAP's. Overall it was a good day in spite of the inclement
weather. Though, it meant that R 1 and GNR Regent 438 were never as full, doubling up as rain shelters for large tracts of the day

No worries Losty, as you can tell i didn't make it to Terenure myself that day. I would've liked to see R1 and Regent 438 out on the road, i did see
them a few weeks ago in the Transport Museum in Howth, along with R389, P347 and others, but i would've liked to see thoses two buses, R1 and GNR 438, in
motion. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Seems like it was a good day, not including the weather.

Yes EN,
Its a Triumph Dolomite 1500 SE. The SE stands for Special Edition. There was a limited run of 2500 built in 1979, although in fact only 2163 were actually made as sales were declining at that stage as the Dolomite was just at the end of its production life. Special Edition cars benefitted from a front scoop spoiler, black paint with silver coachlines/SE logo, special Spitfire wheels with chrome embellishers, chrome sill protectors, walnut door cappings & dash, tinted windows, deep pile grey carpet, grey velour seating and a MW/LW radio as standard! The Dolomite range had a long and varied life span having followed on from the similarly styled Triumph 1300 and then the Toledo. Dolomites were offered in 1300, 1500 and 1850 engine sizes with the sporty Sprint version being top of the range.

I seem to remember my parents had a Triumph 1300, which was a very reliable old car, but didn't it have front wheel drive.
Certainly my recollection of it was that the gear change was like stirring Christmas pudding, whereas my Dolomite had a fairly slick gear change with rear wheel drive. I must try to dig out a photo of it. I must say I loved it but the 'gent' who took over my position when I moved on managed to wrap it round a tree. |
