On a different point apparently CIE originally ordered 100 Regent III's in 1947 but because of an agreement with Leyland only 10 were actually delivered.

I have just recently finished reading a book about history of
Eastern Coach Works, and as a result of 1947 nationalisation they and Bristol Motors, both having been part of Tilling Group were restricted thereafter from selling to independent operators.
It might not be relevant, but thought strikes me that if free market being 'interfered with' or 'manipulated' by Govt., then the ability of the other suppliers in the marketplace to meet their demands may well have suffered, particularly with the huge demands from L.T. to get their hands on new units to replace ageing stock, war losses etc. In the immediate post war period units from around country had been loaned to London to patch up fleet.

It might just explain why the AEC order was never completed.
