It is interesting to reflect back to this time when Dublin City Services found themselves with an all Leyland fleet, at the time they were probably more than satisfied as the R and RA classes were solid reliable vehicles. However little did they know what was around the corner as Leyland was about to enter the most difficult time in it's history when quality and customer service went out the window. I always maintain that 1968 was the year that killed the bus building industry on this side of the world, the disasterous merger of Leyland and AEC where Leyland basically eliminated its rival and would soon control both Daimler and Bristol although the latter two would hang on to some limited independence for a few more years before being ruthlessly killed off. CIE of course were locked into a contract with Leyland so couldn't run to Daimler for Fleetlines when things turned sour. But in 1967 this was all ahead of them..............................................................
