It was RA109, which had been withdrawn from Ringsend, and was rescued from Broadstone scrapyard to go to Clontarf.

The Ringsend staff used to tease the Clontarf maintainence dept that they operated a bus only fit for scrap at Ringsend.

Many of the RAs, particularly in the final year, had just small white transfer fleet numbers on the navy bodywork due to the practice by enthusiasts of stealing fleet number plates from buses which were still in service, a practice which caused severe antagonism in the garages, and nearly derailed the arrangments for the grand final parade ay Conyngham Road.
