Given that we have somewhat less than 100 inspectors, and there were substantially more than 1000 conductors, your grasp of the figures is out by a factor of at least 10
I suspect that figure might be on the rise, especially if this manner of fare inspection is being deployed and will expand to all routes.

(Where do you get these numbers from, anyway? and are they going to remain constant? One hundred inspectors is merely the beginning, unless they're going to restrict it to just a few routes, which I suspect will not be the case. It's still a substantial boost in personnel.)

One point that nobody has made so far is the dubious temperment of SOME of the new breed of checkers. Some of them quite frankly have no manners at all and approach all passengers as though they are guilty until proved innocent
Thanks; that's exactly what I saw coming with this, and where I'm coming from on this issue. I've heard anecdotes of this manner of rude and aggressive fare inspection going on in countries in the former eastern bloc of Europe, and was hoping that the practice would not spread to Ireland. But it looks like it has.

POP???????? What is that?
You could have looked on Google. It stands for "proof of payment". It's in use on the Luas, so I do not see why such a knowledgeable person like yourself is unaware of it. I'd love to reply to the rest of your post, but the form appears to violate the rules and was not extricated by the staff, and WADR I'm a bit offended by your self-righteousness and condescension (WADR stands forhold on, I'll Google it for youhere it issecond definition.)
