It's a public order issue. Unfortunately, if we couldn't 'afford' adequate and proper policing when we were in a period of boom times, no more money will be allocated now that things are tough.

With thousands and thousands of taxpayer's money being spent on the storage of obsolete computers at the behest of a Minister who went against every advice he was given, and who remains in office despite having squandered €60 million of taxpayers money; with another TD in Mayo managing to swing for herself over €40,000 a year over and above her regular allowance, as some kind of obscene reward for a background of very questionable financial dealings and failed libel attempts; with the man who promoted a whole series of corrupt and compromised people to positions of influence, now trying to airbrush history and have himself installed in the Park as a grotesque parody of president...

I'm afraid public order is well down the list of priorities in this state. What police force we have seems not there to protect the State and it's citizens, but to protect the State FROM the citizens...
