I can see your point regarding them not having free travel passes but there are 1000's of people unable to work and are attending hospitals due to smoking who are on long term diability which includes a travel pass.. Different substance same addiction same result. Junkies are just more obvious. If people can afford to smoke knowing the consequenses then they could also afford to pay thier bus fare. Also its not only the lower element of society who are smoking on buses.

School children smoe on buses dodge fares and adults pay the wrong fare. If I paid 80 cent I would be refused travel but most of the trouble makers pay this fare without quarrel.

This as Billy says is the opportunity to get them off the bus and so discourage the anti social behaviour on the top deck.

In the early 90's 78A went KC single deck operation after 7pm so the driver could keep an eye on what was going on. Unfortunately this was a disaster for passengers as when there was trouble on the single decker there was nowhere for people to go and most ended up getting off. At least on a double decker you can go down stairs.

The best way to round off a good night out is to attent the cabaret upstairs on 51N. And only €5 admission.
