Bus Eireann to lay off 320 workers in cost-cutting plan Tuesday January 20 2009 Bus Eireann is reportedly planning to lay off around 320 workers as part of a major cost-cutting programme. Reports this morning say the firm also plans to take around 150 buses off the road as part of efforts to break even this year. The state-owned company has called trade union representatives into a meeting this morning to discuss the financial difficulties facing the company. News of the staff cuts comes just days after Dublin Bus announced plans to axe 290 jobs and reduce its fleet by 120 buses.
