I'd say it was probably on a tour at the time. VC112 was new when that photo was taken so thats why i reckon it may have been doing at tour at the time, maybe covering for another tour coach VC which might have been in for service or something on that day. Or maybe it was based in the Ballina area at the time. I always thought that those VC's which Cork have now (or had before they went on schools and got spread around different parts of the country) i thought that they were there from new but maybe not. VC111 is on schools in Ballina now and VC117 is on schools in Athlone. But then again that picture of VC112 does display an ACHILL sticker on the windscreen so it may well be on service. I don't see a ticket machine in it. Almex was the type of ticket machines in use by Bus Eireann back then before the Wayfarer ticket machines arrived in 2000 i think it was or 2001. The wayfarer's are easier as every driver has their own little module, a small little box a little smaller than the size of a packet of sardines you'd buy in the supermarket, which you can take with you anywhere and fits easily into your pocket, but back in those days you had to carry the whole Almex machine itself around with you all the time. Torture.
