I've checked some photos i've got access too and here are the results.

TD4s R1, R2 & R47 all have long floor vents but R15 has no vents possibly removed on overhaul because photo is 1956. All these buses have the same upper deck opening window layout, starting from the front windows 2, 4 & 6 are openers.

It's a different story with the TD5s.

R62, R63, R64, R73 have long vents,
R81, R111, R144 have short vents,
R152, R163, R179, R183, R186 & R215 all have no vents.

Opening Windows :
R62 windows 2 & 5.
R63 windows 3 & 5.
R64 windows 2 & 4.
R73 Windows 2 & 5.
R81 Windows 2 & 5.
R111 Windows 2 & 5.
R114/152/163/179/183/186/215 all are Windows 2 & 4.

Interesting that the earlier TD5s seemed to have opening windows in a hap-hazard fashion.

It is now possible that the bus in question may be a route 2/3 showing SANDYMOUNT TOWER or SANDYMOUNT GRN, was Tower and Green used or just plain Sandymount at this time, it sure looks like 2 words, apart from that I would go for a route 12 PALMERSTON PARK, I actually think the bus is further away from the nearside than it looks.
Dont think it's a 20, looks to be too many letters in the word to make up BULFIN ROAD.

Anthony.
