Nice photo gnr302. Probably right about most remote, there was a limited stop service as opposed to a full 'expressway' service in the 1970s which left Dublin at 0900 and arrived in Blacksod at 1555!!!. The return left Blacksod at 0745 and arrived in Dublin at 1500. These were summer only services that operated until late September.
Strangely enough, it was one trip I always wanted to do. In fact, I never been to Banger Erris or the area around it, in fact, I've never been West or North West of Ballina. Covered just about everywhere else except that area. Oddly, the bus is showing 456 which in the Ballina-Galway stage service!!!.
Didn't the 022 Dublin - Ballina operate through to Belmullet recently??. Fridays & Sundays I think.

On my recent travels I came across a BE bus stop in Lettermacward which is between Glenties & Dunglow in Co Donegal, I was somewhat surprised to see a BE stop at this location, I hadn't realised a BE service went this way until I got home and checked it out, it is in fact the 492 Donegal - Glenties which is jointly operated with McGeehan Coaches.
