VC145 photographed in Bangor Erris on route 446 from Ballina to Blacksod last Saturday, 4th July. I travelled on it from here to terminus at Blacksod. Bus runs via Geesala on Saturday only, which is a very remote run across bogland. But Geesala is a village of modern houses, and 8 of the 15 passengers got off either there or in rural areas before we rejoined the main road. Route from Belmullet to Blacksod is spectacularly beautiful. VC145 operates the once a day (except Sunday) service to Ballina, leaving Blacksod at 0820 (0845 on Sat) and returning 12 hours later. Note that destination display is not correctly dressed for the route at all! I'd say nobody bothers, everybody knows where the bus is going!

It might be the most remote BUS EIREANN route, but I wonder if Lough Swilly or Ulsterbus could challenge this title? There's also a public minibus service route on Innishmore, the largest of the Aran Islands........
