While we're on this subject folks, KC48 in particular might be the main man to ask, i know it most probably does - but does this same rule apply to those who put a fold-up bicycle (folded up ofcourse) into the luggage bay as it doesn't take up alot of space or does this apply only to regular bikes (the non-fold ones)? I know a bike is a bike regardless of whether it folds up or not but its just something i've wanted to ask, as i remember about 18 months ago going up to Donegal town. We stopped at Enniskillen bus stn. where we lifted a few people and also a man who had a fold-up bicycle with him, and he had folded it up and placed it in the luggage boot in the side. When he got on the bus he said 'Single to Ballyshannon or Donegal', can't remember which of the towns he was going to. The driver said 10 euro (or whatever the price was) and 10euro or 11euro for the bike (whatever the price for the bike was at that time, think it was a tenner but i can't remember). The passenger looked somewhat shocked when the driver said this, but to cut a long story short he kept moaning and moaning and complaing to the driver 'but its a fold-up bike, its a fold-up bike. Thats the reason i bought a fold-up bike so it could be easily carried round with me'. But the driver kept telling him that there was nothing he could do and that he'd have to pay the charge for the bike. But to cut a long story short, the driver said he could go ahead this time and didn't charge him for the bike. I think that it should have been paid for as it is still technically classed as a bike, regardless whether or not it folds up or not, but in the regulations and rules of Bus Eireann (in the timetable for example) does it say that all bicycles must pay this fare, and does it mention anything about a fold-up bike? I'm sure the term BICYCLE covers ALL bicycles? I think a bike is a bike and it should be classed as a bike regardless of whether it folds up or not. But whats the official say on this matter?
