A little confrontation with the lowest denominator of our society now and again might lead to a small reduction in the deep cleaning bill in our bus fleets
The problem is , just who is going to confront them?
After all it is not a drivers job to leave the cab and endanger him/herself to go back and argue with some mindless or overly intoxicated yob , neither is it safe these days to expect inspectors to remove them as they did in times past
It is just one more reason we should be angry at the fact that in 2002 we were promised a transport police division on a par with the U.K. model , instead we were fobbed off with the Garda Traffic unit who are little more than revenue checking staff geared at the private motorist and of NO USE to public or private transport companies or their passengers
If you want to see real attitude change towards public transport then it needs to be made a safe place to work or travel on and made clear that the laws of the land apply on public transport vehicles as well and WILL be enforced
