These maps have me fascinated.

Some finds relating to railway/tram lines have answered some anomalies/quires that i always had.

However, I have got one enquiry regarding the Mountmellick Branch, if we follow the line from Clonniberry Junction towards Mountmellick on the Historic 25i map, just north of the level crossing over the 'Clonreher Road' the permanant way opens out for a short distance with two totally un-connected tracks each side of the actual Mountmellick running line.
Does anyone know what was here before or what they may have been used for?.

If we use the modern overlay we can see that the actual location still sticks out' like a sore thumb, on one side nice green fields and on the other a bog. But the former rail lines is heavily over grown with trees/bushes, there seems to be limited or no access to this area. It's so odd, I may take a trip down there next time I'm over, just to satisfy my own curiosity.
