Hi all, I was just wondering what colour most caught your eye on the bus stops over the years. I was brought up with the black and white bus stops which
were around for most of the 80s right up until
the start of Dublin Bus. Most of you will know them well. It was black most of the way up with a small bit of white. The head of the stop was white around the edges with black in the middle with bus in white on it. Judging on the colours that there have been since, the black and white of the CIE days seem very dull. So the black and white of the CIE days is just for nostalgia reasons for me. The colour doesn't do anything for me.
With the change over from CIE to Dublin Bus there was a new colour brought to our bus stops. All the buses were going green so the bus stops followed suit. It was a welcome change from the black and white. A lot brighter.
A new concept came in 1993. The Cityswift brand was launched and the bus stops became blue. It was funny to have the Cityswift stops in blue and every other one in still in green. Eventually they were all painted blue.
The most recent one is the yellow. I was not convinced at first but now I like it. I think it is important to have a bright colour. Very noticeable.
Favourite from top
4-black and white
I wonder what colour is next.
