By the late 1970's the condition of the C.I.E. Dublin City Services fleet can only be described as deplorable.
Lack of investment combined with the terrible Buff Livery on the Atlanteans, Tin Fronts, Corner Window frames panel, led over
rather than replaced with glass all came together to give a shambolic appearance.
The RA Fleet some of which were 20 years old at the time were no exception, to put it mildly, they were in rag order,
a few I believe even operated with the Top Deck roped off for safety reasons.
Then we go to Clontarf Garage
the exception to the rule were the small fleet of RA's at Clontarf, the maintenance crew here worked miracles to bring these vehicles which had been
transferred from various depot's back to a very high standard.
Buses which looked to be bound for the Scrapyard were given a new lease of life. A PHOENIX FROM THE ASHES.
