The BBC reports that Translink will not be privatised:
Quote:
Public transport company Translink will not be privatised, Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy has said.
The future of the company is to be discussed at a meeting between trade unionists and the minister.
A delegation from the union Unite is to seek assurances that the company will remain under public control.
Speaking before the meeting, Mr Murphy said: "Public transport will remain regulated here unlike England, Scotland and Wales."
He added: "Privatisation is not being considered and I am committed to the development of an efficient, effective and sustainable public transport system which contributes to economic development, mobility and social inclusion."
The union also wants representation on a proposed passenger transport body.
The delegation to meet Mr Murphy is made up of representatives from the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers Union and Amicus sections of Unite which represents more that 3,000 employees working in Translink.
