I am always fascinated when I visit Clontarf and see the RAs on the 130, as they are the same numbers as the Rs (Queen Mary) that operated the route (30) in the 1950s. First today I saw RV268 and 274. I remember that at lunchtime in the 1950s I could get R269 home from school, but R268 was the bus before it, and R274 was next after it. Then I saw RA275 and 273. R275 was always before R268 in the rotation, while R273 came on at lunchtime, doing a 53A journey first.
But my day was spoilt when the next 130 was RV403. That does not fit the pattern!
For info, the regular 30s in 1950s were R268 -276, while R277/8/9 did the 28 shorts (also route 30 boards) and R280 was the spare.
Another fleet similarity that we discovered a couple of years ago was that R80 followed by RA80 followed by KD80 gave 60 almost unbroken service in Summerhill from 1939 to 1999. And most of this time would have been on the 16s.
Anyone else got similar examples?
