On a visit to Clontarf in 1979/80 (and my dates may be wrong
here), I noticed RA113 ? undergoing a total makeover on the pits. Would I be right in saying this bus was rescued from the scrapyard to replace an earlier numbered RA which was accident damaged. Also as the RA's approached the end of the road and became more and more battered looking some had cab windows replaced with one piece units, one car( was it from Donnybrook ?) had a small sealed window fitted which looked like it came from a garden shed , awful. They were really let fall to pieces towards the end. Fleet numbers were now painted white on a blue background rather than the much more appealing black on white. It was very sad to see these once beautiful machines in this condition, I think the sight of a green RA at dusk, with illuminated exterior adverts and light bulbs glowing thundering around College Green was hard to beat !
