I've just joined the forum as I've always had an interest in all modes of transport. While I have travelled on many buses over the years, it's only
in recent years that I use them regularly to commute to and from town and my interest in them has grown. I suppose my favourite buses would have to be the KDs
and the KCs.I used to travel on these quite a bit when I was a child. But, when I started commuting by bus in 1999, getting a KD or a KC was a rarity. I
travelled mainly on RVs, RAs and RHs, as well as the ADs and VAs, mostly on the 68 and 69 routes. I remember the last KC I travelled on being 191 on the 68 for
only a couple of minutes before we swapped on to an AD. That was the last I saw of it. My last KD was 322 on a 69 and I remember it struggling for power,
particularly on hills. It was a treat to travel on these buses as it had been years before I had last travelled on either of these models. Nowadays, it's
the AVs and AXs on these routes and soon, hopefully, the EVs once they enter service and eventually stray from the 151s.
I'm looking foward to posting on Garaiste. I've been reading it for a few years and think it's a brilliant forum. I have met some of you at various
events, such as the AD/VA run, the RA run and Cultra in 2006.
AV216 is the name! Been travelling on dublin bus everyday for the last 6 years travelling in and out from Leeson Street to Swords everyday. Mostly notbaly on
AV216 operating the 41x with the Harristown lads. Know some of them by name its gas that after 6 years travelling on the same bus route with the same people
and drivers that you get to know them and their habits such as people sitting in the exact same seats day in day out, like meself!
The 41X drivers of Harristown are a credit to Dublin Bus. Never had a bad experience with them and they make the journey into town so easy as well!! Hop on in
Rivervalley and hop off outside school!
Anyways, i became intrested in buses trying to plan the quickest way from Leeson Street to Home. Not the easiest thing to do, i mite! So by constantly waiting
in Abbey Street for the elusive 41B (commonly refered to by locals as the "Ghost Service") I took an interest in guessing what bus would leave next
and on what route and its continued to this very day.
