I've just put up a feature on www.allaboutbuses.com looking at my visits to Finglas over the past number of years.
It includes one of my favourite photos, showing D1 in its last weeks of service in summer 1982.
We are used to seeing all those photos of a sleek and shiny D1 being demonstrated to the press, or in its first days on the road in 1966, but how many remember it in rag order at the end of its days?
Apologies that the photo below is slightly clipped - I still think its worth seeing anyway.
Note the missing headlight, the big hole in the roof dome, the rough patching of the metal around the lower destination box, and the mismatched upper windows - one has been replaced with a D400 style rubber surround fitting, and the other left original!
I travelled back into town on D1 that day, and this was the last time I saw it in service.
