Anyway I couldn't get over the amout of ships in and out of dublin, we were on the pier for about an hour and at least 6 passed us! It's a lovely little spot and I would certainly recommend a walk down that way to anyone! Nice way to see the city.

Took a stroll down to poolbeg light house down the south wall last night for the first time in years to avoid traffic on the malahide road (stay in town for an
hour or 2 and then head out after the traffic).

It's interesting that the last photo taken 30 mins after first should be the brightest of the lot.
The ship and more of sea have all worked to brighten what is a very good pic with a camera phone. Best time down there, if you into ferries, is from 1630 'til 1730 when on most weekdays you will have P and O / Norfolk x 2 / Seatruck / I Ferries / Stena in Indian file. Not in that sequence I should add. [ before someone picks me up on that ! ] |

Eastern Nat wrote: I reckon it's because the last pictre isn't zoomed in. Digital zoom on all cameras I find darkens a picture. And yeah I might get down there before
the summer is out and take a few decent pictures around that time with my new camera |

Sorry, no advice from me, I'm far from being an expert, perhaps the other lads will be forthcoming.
My Olympus came from Dixons at The Pavilions in Swords. The good news is I saved the air fare to Hong Kong ! Seriously, that sounds like a good trip, enjoy yourself. E.N. |

Definitely Fuji or Olympus - I've one of each and they produce excellent photos. With the Olympus I've found that if it's on high optical zoom it
will produce somewhat of a grainy photo (overcome during editing process). With the Fuji there is the same problem, with the addition of the flash. I generally
have it disabled all of the time, and use natural lighting as the flash can often cause the light to reflect if there is a white/light surface. For some
reason, the Olympus doesn't have this problem!
Generally when you buy an SLR (such as a Canon 40D), all you will get is a body - no flash, lense or storage. For example the 40D retails at around €1100, then you'll be required to obtain a lense (Sigma 30/1.4 lens is what has been recommended to me) - it can amount! I personally would recommend a budget Compact SLR, like the Fuji S5800fd which retails over here at around €200, or the S9600 (not sure of RRP). Unless you plan on getting into photography as a serious hobby I'd recommend the S5800 to begin with, as the images are pretty good with a high MP setting - and it has that all important stabiliser which means there no need for a tripod it's all point and shoot. I've been considering buying one myself, as generally SLR's are heavy and clumsy, the S5800 is light and compact it's technically not classed as SLR as the lense isn't separable from the body. Will put up some sample photos when I get a chance Hope this helps. |

I've actually been thinking of a Sony DSLR because from what I can tell they seem to be the most technically advanced compared to some of the others for
the same price... The package I'll probably end up getting is the A350 with the lens that comes with it, and the option of getting numerous lenses
afterwards....

like a great deal though - I'd go for it.

Try Pixmania.com as they have pretty good deals on cameras. I got my Olympus E500 Camera a few years back and saved 40% on what you'd paid here in ireland
plus got an extra lense and memory cards for half price. That was about 3 years ago!! Love the camera and have taken a few thousand photos to date and still
growing!! Think they're still cheaper tho even with delivery. Sure go and have a "feel" of the camera in the shops, price it then check to see if
cheaper online.

i got a 499 euro kodak Z1275 digital camera for 299 euro in argos . 12 mega pixels 5x zoom and video capture capability . argos usually have good discounts
online but the pain in the face is you have to reserve them and go to the shop itself to buy .
