The new Isle of Man Steam Packet Company fastcraft 'Manannan' visited Dublin today for berthing trials. She trialed at berth 49 and 51A.
The vessel was built by Incat, in Australia, orginally as a military vessel and was used by the US Navy. The vessel has undergone a complete refurbishment which, it has been noted, is the largest conversion ever undertaken on an aluminium vessel anywhere in the world. The extensive work has included the construction of completely new aft accommodation, on what was the helicopter landing deck, and a much enlarged skylounge on the top deck, both of which have contributed to the vessel's increased seating capacity of more than 800 passengers. She is due to enter service on the 22nd May, in time for this years TT Festival. For the past week she has been undergoing berthing trials at all the destination ports served by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, since she arrived in Douglas, Isle of Man, last monday. Hopefully we will see her in Dublin again soon.
