Great to see VWL138 in the new livery. Strange that the grey underneath the windscreen is there.
Other than that it looks like a brand new bus. And of course no ugly adframes only enhances the look of the bus even more. Such a shame that when 122, 123, 125, 129, 131, 132, 135, 137 and 143 were recently done they were left in the old livery. I saw a TE on a low loader around 1500 yesterday going past PJ O'Hea's garage(the side facing the bus station). Dunno what one it was though. What TEs and PDs have been withdrawn in Cork? |

TE3 left this morning. A crowd by the name of Hegarty in Limerick are taking them.

Can any one confirm if TE 35 is alive and well and living in Cork? I caught a brief glimpse of a TE between Banteer and Kanturk this morning and the end of
the reg looked like 35.

VWL138 is a credit to BE. The bus looks pristine and new. Are the interiors given a refit when they go for repanelling and repainting in Cork?
Saw VWL171 in Galway at the week-end with heavy loads on the Dublin Road.

I agree, VWL138 looks very well, as does 136 and 141 but i think 138 looks the best. I just don't really care too much for the ad-frame on the side of 136
and 141.

It is rare for a VC to be replaced by a PD , as one who remembers PD 1-20 when new (and travelled extensively on many of them) I would not say it looks well ,
however given that it is 19 years old and has had to put up with Capwell maintainance for many years I suppose it could look worse.

Route 255 | #12 | ||

Seen this Saturdays only bus route pass me at Gougane Cross last Saturday, a few passengers on board, didn't get to ID the bus but I think it may have been
a VP, it was actually displaying 255 MACROOM, isn't there a change of buses at Ballingeary? Nice day out for the driver though, 0900 Ballingeary to
Kilcrohane, 1040 Kilcrohane to Bantry, Meal Break, then 1335 Bantry to Kealkil, 1400 Kealkil to Kilcrohane and finally 1515 Kilcrohane to Ballingeary.
I note it didn't divert up to the turning circle at Gougane Barra Park, I thought it went up there in the summer months?. Anthony. |

SR45 has returned to service after repair from the fire in Capwell last month. VWL103 has also returned to service after an accident. Both buses are in
showroom condition.

What other buses (or were there any other buses) damaged by the fire which took the life of SP31 in Cork a few weeks ago? Was SR45 the only one damaged, or are
there other one's which will be returning soon?

Where did VWL103 get it's overhaul? Does the overhaul and repaint take place in Capwell or does BE send the buses off to a third party. I often wondered
how that works for refits. Any pics of VWL103?

No pics but I can assure you I haven't seen a 00 VWL look as good as 103 does in about 6 or 7 years.
Compared to when they were new 103 has the "Cork city service" branding (amazing a repainted bus got branding, normally they all lose it when they get painted) in black and the grey that goes around the bottom of the bus is now Ringsend grey (Ringsend wedding buses used to have their own interpretation of the grey in Dublin Bus Wedding livery), the wheels are all painted silver and the NDP logo at the rear has been replaced by a(old livery) BÉ logo. It looks like new, if every Cork based bus was in 103's present condition people would say that Cork's standard of maintenance was the best in the country. The repaint was done so well it makes it all the more of a pity they didn't paint 103 into the new livery. |

Have I read the last post correctly? Why in God's name would they repaint a bus in the old livery? There must be some logic in that...please enlighten me... |

It's real strange I know. But logic and BÉ are 2 words that don't know each other very well.
Yes I would have thought 103 should have been repainted in the new livery too, but then again this is the company that repainted VWL134, then 136 followed by 141,142, 144 and 140 into the new livery, then promptly decided to paint(not in chronological order) 122,123,124,125,131,132,133,135 and 137 in the old livery but then when 138 was stripped of the Vodafone AOA it got the new livery even though the ones I just mentioned were done before 138! I suppose it is much cheaper to repaint a bus in the same livery it already is in but I'd rather they just did a few buses properly in the new livery and not only do some in a batch like they did with the VWL120s and 130s. |

There is a bit of confusion about the VWL repaints as the directive from Broadstone states that only 04 reg buses onwards are to recieve the new livery ,
however since the 01 - 04 VWL's are identical (and similar to the 07 - 08) there is considerable debate as to which VWL is to recieve which livery

Slightly of the topic but if buses from 04 onwards are to receive the new livery wil the 05 SP's receive the new livery aswell or wil they be staying in
the old livery
