It's a really tough call between the EU livery and the Lottery livery from a previous edition as to which is my favourite AOA. Probably the EU one..but
only just
The 56 variation is about as convenient and useful as Monica Belucci shooting you in the head.

I've really enjoyed the series. Would there be any chance of reeling in more of the 1980s if thats not being a little greedy!

I agree. I think that the fleet has become somewhat boring and was much more exciting in the 70's & 80's with the various types of older buses. It
was great to be standing at a stop and not knowing what class of bus would arrive as the allocations were so varied. And also the different engine types of the
standard d's and df's. I also found the buses looked so welll with adverts on the front and back as well as the sides. Would love a series on DF's
from thier inception to the smart tan livery everyone seems to hate.

I much perfer the older buses such as the Atlanteans, Bombardiers and Olympians. The new buses are just boring and nothing interesting like a Detroit deisel eingine. |

I'd say the fleet would be more interesting if our buses were more unique to Ireland. You can only look at both variants of the D, the variants of the KDs
and the Olympians. I know Olympians are used abroad and have been for years with different variants there. But, the ones that we had in Dublin were more unique
than those in the UK. A similar story with the Atlanteans. There were many variants in the UK, for example, but with only the two distinct types here. Our
beloved Bombardiers were unique to Ireland (with the exception of the sole KD in Baghdad) and they were built in Ireland for ireland. The same could be said
about the CIE buses throughout the years, such as the Rs, ARs, Cs, Us, etc. If the Bombardiers had survived to this day, they could have been our version of
the Routemaster: a distinctive bus with a distinctive green livery and unique to one country.
Today, with the likes of the ALX400, the Enviros and the Geminis, they are used across the UK and in the case of the Wrights and the Enviro500s, they are also used in Hong Kong, with more Enviro500s in Canada and Las Vegas. The buses here aren't unique. They are too similar to our neighbours with the exceptions of some modifications to ours. There are probably too many ALX400s compared to the other types in the DB fleet. Possibly, a mixture of buses could have been ordered to make up the 648. I'm not complaining, btw. I have absolutely no issues with the DB fleet except, as I say, they could be more unique. |
