Just a question about the Co. Louth town above, Drogheda. The irish for this town is 'Droichead Atha', but if you look at towns such as Newbridge in
Co. KIldare, its irish name is 'Drioichead Nua', and other towns which i just can't think of now which have part of the word Bridge in their town
name is called Droichead something in Irish, but does anyone know exactly why? Droichead is the Irish word for Bridge isn't it? In what way does that
connect to the word Drogheda? There's no 'Bridge' mentioned in the town Drogheda.
